Introduction to Tafsir

Ustadh Abu Anees
13 Lessons (3 Months Course)
fee: $60.00

Allah ‘azza wa jall says in Surah An-Nisaa verse 82: ‘Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction’. At-tadabbur (contemplation/reflection) is for every Muslim; learned and unlearned alike. Studying this course will train a person to focus on the core meaning and essence of the Qur’aan, hence allowing them to ponder over the message and the meaning of the Qur’aan. This will allow a person to realise the beauty of the Qur’aan, the greatness of the message and most importantly the Beauty and Greatness of the One Who revealed this Qur’aan and Spoke these very words.

Usool ut Tafseer is essentially a study of the key principles referred to by the scholars to make tafseer when there are differences in tafseer and to explain the meaning of the verses. However, it is beneficial for beginners to study this subject as it will allow them to appreciate the scholars for their ijtihaad in mattes of tafseer and help the person to understand not only the reason for these differences but also how to deal with these differences.

This course is based upon Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyah’s ‘An Introduction to the Principles of Tafseer’.

Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyah was born into a family of scholars; both his father and grandfather were great scholars of their time. Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyah (rahimahullah) studied the Qur’aan, Hadith and Hanbali fiqh at a young age such that he became a professor of Islamic studies at the age of 19. Testimonials

"I have been studying at Tayyibun Institute since 2008 and last year I moved to Saudi Arabia. Although I was very happy, I soon realized that I could not seek knowledge without first learning the Arabic Language. Whilst learning Arabic I also wanted to seek Islamic knowledge. I saw some online courses but felt that it would not be as good as Tayyibun Institute, so I was very happy when I found out that they have online courses. Even though one might think that their online courses are not as good as the centre, it turned out to be better than going to the centre, not only because I live in Saudi Arabia but mainly because you will be able to study in your own time. From what I have experienced I can say that the courses at Tayyibun Institute (and online) are very much practical. Jazaahum'Allahu Khairan"
